A Little About Me.
Writer. Storyteller. Cultural Commentator. Lifelong learner.
My Story
I’m Rachael Afolabi, a Nigerian writer, storyteller, and cultural commentator with an enduring curiosity about people and the world we inhabit.
Born and raised in Nigeria, I moved to the United States as a teenager. Living between cultures has shaped my understanding of identity, belonging, faith, and the expectations that influence how we live.
I’ve always been fascinated by the human experience. Why do we believe what we believe? How much of who we are is shaped by culture? What makes us love, question, change, or hold on to the things we know?
These are some of the questions that inspire my writing.

Beyond the Pages
Beyond writing, I’m someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, exploring new places, discovering different cultures, and finding beauty in everyday experiences.
Faith is an important part of how I understand the world, but so are curiosity, reflection, and a willingness to question what I’ve always known. I believe there’s always more to learn, more to discover, and sometimes, more to unlearn.
When I’m not writing or working on a creative project, you’ll probably find me reading, enjoying music, watching a good drama, or having a conversation that begins with one simple question and turns into something much deeper.
What I’m Creating
My creativity takes different forms, but at the heart of everything I create is a desire to explore the human experience, challenge assumptions, and inspire meaningful conversations.
Books & Storytelling
From nonfiction exploring love and relationships to fiction and screenplays, I write stories that examine identity, faith, culture, and the complexities of being human.
Conversations That Matter
Through Let’s Talk About Sex and Altars & Agendas, I explore questions about faith, sexuality, relationships, and society, creating space for honest dialogue and different perspectives.
Reflections & Perspectives
I share thoughts on culture, personal growth, faith, and the ideas that shape how we see ourselves and one another. Sometimes I offer answers; often, I simply invite better questions.
“I believe the most meaningful stories don’t simply tell us what to think. They invite us to question, reflect, and see the world differently.”
— Rachael Afolabi
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going.
Some conversations deserve more than a page. Through Let’s Talk About Sex and Altars & Agendas, I explore questions about faith, relationships, sexuality, culture, and the complexities of being human. I don’t always offer answers, but I believe there’s value in asking better questions.

Let’s Stay Connected
Stories are meant to be shared, and conversations are meant to continue.
Whether you’ve connected with something I’ve written, have a question, or simply want to say hello, I’d love to hear from you.
